My name is Jip. I am 7 years old. I only found out a few months ago that I have autism. My mother had been suspecting it for a while. I live with my super, super, super sweet 6-month-old dog Max, our tomcat Roger, my father Michel, my mother Isabelle and my sister Kees, she is 5 years old. We used to have two cats, but Freddy died recently. I felt very sad, but also strange, because you don't really notice that she has died. I often argue with Kees because she doesn't always want to do what I want and vice versa, but we also like playing together.
Due to being autistic, I am creative. I really like drawing and crafting. But what really interests me is anatomy. I love everything related to the human body. My favourite programme on television is Top Docs. I remember almost everything they say on the show and I know a lot about 'our bodies'. My biggest dream is to see Elbert and Rachel, who present the show, in real life.
I am not the only one in my family who is autistic. My grandmother's brother also has ASD. He has Asperger's syndrome and my grandmother has never been tested but thinks she also has ASD.
Sometimes I feel a bit ashamed that I have autism, but according to mum, I should share it with people because then things can become less difficult. I don't know if that's true. Most of all, I find it very annoying to be different from others.
Any advantages of my autism I don't know. One disadvantage is that I can get very angry very quickly and then can't stop being angry. I find that super annoying. Meeting new people is also unpleasant, especially when they are touching me. Corona now makes it easier, because you no longer have to shake hands or kiss people on the cheeks at a birthday!
When I grow up, I would like to become a doctor, but I don't like going to school at all. Haha, so I don't know exactly how I'm going to achieve that exactly yet.
